Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Bitely collects, why, who it is shared with, and the control you have over it. It describes how the app actually works today — not a generic template.

1. Who we are

Bitely is a short-form food video app: people watch reels of real dishes from real places nearby, then order delivery or takeaway, book a table, or follow the spot. Businesses list themselves, take orders and manage bookings; riders they invite deliver those orders.

This policy covers the Bitely mobile app (iOS and Android), the business dashboard at business.bitely.store, and this website. Contact us any time at support@bitely.store.

2. What we collect

We collect only what a given feature needs. If you never place an order, we never hold a delivery address; if you never open a chat, we hold no messages.

CategoryWhat it includesWhen
Account Your name, email, phone number, username, and — if you set them — bio, website, profile photo and chosen food interests. Passwords are stored only as a salted hash, never in readable form. When you sign up
Sign-in with Google / Apple The account identifier Google or Apple returns, plus the name and email they share with us. If you use social sign-in
Verification codes One-time codes sent to your email for sign-up, password reset and two-step verification. Stored hashed, and expire in 10 minutes. When a code is needed
Sessions & devices Device name and type, app/browser identifier, and IP address for each signed-in session, so you can see and revoke logins. Whenever you sign in
Content you create Your reels and photos, captions, hashtags, mentions, the place you tag (including its coordinates), comments, likes, saves and reviews. When you post or interact
Viewing activity Which posts you viewed, how long you watched, and whether you finished — used to build your For You feed. As you watch reels
Orders & delivery Items ordered, totals, order type, your delivery address and its coordinates, flat/floor/landmark details, delivery instructions, contact phone, and order status timestamps. When you place an order
Reservations Party size, date and time, and any note you add for the restaurant. When you book a table
Messages Chats with restaurants or, during a delivery, with your rider — text, images and voice notes. When you send a message
Notifications A push token for your device so we can notify you about orders, bookings and activity. If you allow notifications
Business details If you list a business: its name, type, description, cuisines, phone, website, address and map position, opening hours, menu, deals and photos. If you register a business
Rider details If a restaurant adds you as a rider: your name, phone, email and photo, plus the deliveries assigned to you. If you are invited as a rider
Reports Reports you file about a post, account or restaurant, and the reason you give. When you report something

Payment information

Bitely orders are cash on delivery or on collection. We do not take card or bank details, and no payment credentials are ever entered into or stored by the app.

3. How we use it

  • Running your account — signing you in, verifying your email, keeping sessions valid, and letting you recover access.
  • Personalising your feed — the tags, creators and places you watch, save and order from build a taste profile that ranks your For You feed. Explore mixes that with what is broadly popular.
  • Showing what is nearby — placing restaurants on the map, sorting by distance, and giving directions.
  • Completing orders and bookings — passing your order to the restaurant, letting them and your rider reach you, and keeping you both updated on status.
  • Keeping the community safe — checking posts are about food, reviewing reported content and accounts, and enforcing our rules.
  • Notifying you — order updates, booking confirmations, replies, follows and other activity you asked to hear about.
  • Preventing abuse — rate limits and per-account usage counters that stop spam and protect paid services from being drained.
  • Fixing and improving the app — diagnosing errors and understanding which features are used.

4. What we never do

  • We do not sell your personal information — to anyone, for any purpose.
  • We do not run third-party advertising or tracking SDKs. The app ships with no analytics, ad-network or data-broker SDK, so your activity is not shared with advertisers.
  • We do not track you across other apps and websites.
  • We do not read your chats to build a profile. Messages are for delivering the conversation, not for targeting.
  • We do not collect payment credentials, because Bitely orders are paid in cash.

5. Location

Location is optional and only used while you are using a feature that needs it — finding food near you, placing your business on the map, or a rider navigating to a drop-off. Bitely does not track your location in the background.

  • If you decline location access, the app still works — you can search a city or area by name instead.
  • When you tag a place on a post, that place's coordinates are stored with the post and shown publicly.
  • A delivery address you save is stored with its map position so the restaurant and rider can find you.
  • During a delivery, a rider's "Delivered" step only unlocks when they are near the drop-off address. This is checked on their device against the delivery address.
  • You can revoke location permission at any time in your phone's system settings.

6. AI features

A few features send content to OpenAI to process it. Only the item being processed is sent — never your account details, contacts, messages or order history.

  • Food-only check — when you publish a post, frames from it are checked to confirm the post is about food. Posts that are not are declined rather than published.
  • Menu scanning — if a business photographs its printed menu, that photo is read to fill in items and categories automatically.
  • Meal nutrition estimate — if you use the food diary, the photo of your plate is analysed to estimate nutrition. These estimates are approximate and are a tracking aid, not medical or dietary advice.

These features are optional in the sense that they only run when you take that action. If you would rather not have a photo processed this way, do not use that feature.

7. Who we share with

Other people on Bitely

Your username, profile photo, bio, posts, comments and reviews are visible to other users. Your email, phone number and delivery addresses are never shown on your public profile.

Restaurants and riders — only when you transact

When you place a delivery order, the restaurant and the rider assigned to it receive your name, contact phone and delivery address so they can prepare and deliver it. For takeaway, the restaurant receives your name and phone but no address. When you book a table, the restaurant receives your name, party size, time and any note.

Service providers

We use a small set of providers to run the service. They process data on our behalf, for the purpose below and nothing else.

Legal reasons

We may disclose information if we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to investigate fraud or abuse, or to protect someone's safety.

8. How long we keep it

  • Your account and content — kept while your account is open. Deleting your account removes them, as described in section 10.
  • Verification codes — expire 10 minutes after they are sent.
  • Sign-in sessions — expire on their own, and end immediately when you log out or revoke a device.
  • Order chats — a delivery chat is temporary and is removed once the order is completed.
  • Content you delete yourself — a post, comment or review you delete is removed from Bitely at that point.

9. Your choices

  • Edit or delete your content — any post, comment or review, at any time.
  • Control what you see — block an account or a restaurant to remove it from your feed and map, and unblock later from Settings.
  • Report anything — reports are anonymous to the person reported.
  • Turn off permissions — location, camera, microphone, photos and notifications can each be revoked in your phone's settings; the app keeps working without them.
  • Control data use — pick a video quality or turn on Data saver so reels use less of your mobile data.
  • Secure your account — turn on two-step verification, review signed-in devices, and revoke any you do not recognise.
  • Get a copy of your data — email support@bitely.store and we will provide what we hold about you.
  • Delete your account — from Settings, at any time, without asking us.

10. Deleting your account

You can delete your Bitely account yourself from Settings → Account → Delete account. Your account is deactivated immediately and hidden from everyone else, and is permanently deleted after 30 days. Signing back in during those 30 days restores it.

After the 30 days, deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Everything you created is removed — profile, posts, comments, likes, saves, follows, reviews, orders, reservations, messages, saved addresses, and any business listing you own.

11. Security

  • Passwords are stored only as salted hashes — we cannot read them, and neither can anyone who obtained the database.
  • Traffic between the apps and our servers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS).
  • Optional two-step verification means a sign-in from a new device also needs a code from your email.
  • Sign-in sessions rotate, and a stolen-and-reused session token invalidates the whole chain automatically.
  • Chat photos and voice notes are stored in a private bucket and served only over short-lived signed links — they are not publicly browsable.
  • Access to production systems is limited to the people who need it.

No online service can promise perfect security, but if a breach ever affects your personal information we will tell you.

12. Children

Bitely is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them. If you believe a child under 13 has an account, email support@bitely.store and we will remove it.

13. Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the app changes. The date at the top always reflects the current version, and we will give notice in the app before a significant change takes effect. Continuing to use Bitely after a change means you accept the updated policy.

14. Contact

Questions about your privacy, or a request about your data? Write to support@bitely.store — we answer every message.

Still have a question?

If anything here is unclear, or you want a copy of your data, message us and a person will read it.
